There are only few countries, that can offer such amount and variety of thermal baths like Hungary. People all over the world willingly eperience the medicinal effects of the thermal baths. We offer you to familiarize with our „essence of hungarian language” so that your stay at thermal pools be more pleasant and comfortable.

There are four main types of pools in Hungary:

• gyógyfürdő - pools with medicinal water
• strandfürdő - recreation pools with lots of water attractions , indoor and outdoor
• termálfürdő - pools with thermal water
• uszoda - swimming pool

The first meeting with difficult hungarian language is just at the desk/office - pénztár (pyjnstar), where we will buy a ticket - jegy (jedi). Ticket office is jegypénztár. We will find the prices of tickets on a board : árak or árjegyzék - price list. We can buy a ticket for an adult person - felnőtt, a child - gyermek, pupil/student - diák, for pensioner - nyugdíjas, or an afternoon ticket - délutáni . It is worth to check the opening hours - nyitva tartás of pool - fürdő. We go in the pool/bath site by entrance - bejárat , and go out by exit - kijárat , never conversely.

When we finally have an entrance ticket, after „breaking” our tongue a bit at a ticket office, and we enter the pool site, we should find a changing room for men - férfi öltöző / kabinok , or for női öltöző / kabinok If we choose an open air, bathing beach pools - strandfürdő , a safe deposit - értékmegőrző is usually paid extra.

Being dressed in a swimsuit - fürdőruha, equiped with a sunglasses - napszemüveg , a towel törölköző and pool shoes - strandpapucs we can hit the pools. Hungarian pools are full of water attractions. There are waterslides - csúszda, wave pools - hullámfürdő medence , massage pools - dögönyöző , geysers - zuhatagok , wild rivers - sodrófolyosó. If we want to swim in a sport pool - uszoda, we need a swimming cap - úszósapka, bath cap - fürdősapka, or rubber cap - gumisapka . We might see a board: kötelező sapka, it means that a swim cap is mandatory. However, if we see a board Fürödni Tilos!, it means that bath is forbidden.

At hungarian pools gastronomy services are often available, in restaurants - étterem, buffets - büfé, cafes - kávézó, or cake shops - cukrászda. A very popular buffet`s dish is Lángos, fried cake, topped with: cheese - sajt, cream - tejszín, garlic sauce - fokhagymás mártással. For drinking we can order tee - tea , coffe - tea (teja), kawę - kávé, coffe with milk- kávé tejjel,
